Smooth Strumming: Ukulele
Welcome to the Introduction to Ukulele course curriculum! This 9-week long curriculum will walk you through the ukulele’s beginnings and take you all the way from the basic chords on the ukulele to forming major scales on the ukulele strings. This course features in depth lessons with step by step directions, videos to coincide with each lesson, quizzes, discussion prompts, and projects all tied into 4 units. This is a great curriculum and resource for beginning middle school ukulele students and will help them form a solid understanding and foundation on the instrument.
Introduction to Keyboarding
Welcome to the Introduction to Keyboard course curriculum! This course will walk you through the piano and keyboard’s beginnings and take you all the way from the white and black keys on the keyboard to forming major and minor scales on the keyboard. This course features in-depth lessons with step-by-step directions, videos to coincide with each lesson, quizzes, discussion prompts, and projects all tied into 4 units. This is an excellent course and resource for beginning middle school keyboarding students and will help them form a solid understanding and foundation on the digital instrument.
Finger Picking Good: Intro to Guitar
Students with little or no experience develop basic guitar skills and knowledge, including simple and full-strum chords, strumming patterns, playing/singing simple melodies, foundational music theory, parts of the guitar, and ensemble skills. Beginning guitarists explore the careers and music of significant performers in pop/rock, jazz, blues, classical, country, bluegrass, and hard rock/metal genres. Public performances may serve as a culmination of specific instructional goals. Students may be required to attend and/or participate in rehearsals and performances outside the school day to support, extend, and assess learning in the classroom. This course may also require students to obtain a musical instrument (e.g., borrow, rent, purchase) from an outside source.
Introduction to the Recorder
The recorder is one of the most studied instruments across the globe. Yet, because of the various and inconsistent ways it has been taught over the years, it often arrives with unfavorable expectations. We believe that with a bit of history about the recorder, and an understanding of why it is beneficial to music education, students and teachers alike will begin their study of the recorder on a positive note. Then, as both begin the process of learning to play the instrument, there are steps and techniques to help play the recorder and make music both challenging and fun. We sincerely hope that Intro to Recorder will point you toward a lifelong appreciation of music.
